Behavior Assistant


Major Function

Responsible for assisting in the organizing and implementing of behavioral programs and initiatives under direct supervision of the Behavioral Specialist and/or administration.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Behavioral Specialist and teacher(s) with maintaining a classroom environment conducive to effective learning
  • Assist with observing, collecting and reporting student behavioral data.
  • Assist with the implementation of a functional behavior assessment and behavior intervention plan.
  • Implement reinforcement schedules as established in the behavior intervention plan.
  • Assist in completion and distribution of paperwork relative to the position in timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Trained in Pepin Academies approved positive behavioral strategies used to prevent or deescalate behavior or an agreement to complete the training within a designated timeframe and renew annually

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree
  • Experience in like position or with students with disabilities.
  • Training in approved positive behavioral strategies (e.g., CPI).
  • Satisfactory completion of American Red Cross First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) courses.
Demonstrated proficiency on the ParaPro Assessment Tes
